District of Columbia personal representative compensation

District of Columbia executor fees

D.C. Code § 20-751 entitles a personal representative to reasonable compensation for services, unless the Court orders otherwise for good cause in a supervised administration or for a special administrator. The District publishes no percentage schedule. Compensation can be paid without prior court approval and is reviewed only if an interested person asks the Court, which then weighs the work done, any estimate given, the time spent and the results (§ 20-753). In a small-estate proceeding the personal representative receives no commission (§ 20-354(a)).

How District of Columbia sets executor compensation
